About the PUB

 
The Public Utilities Board of Manitoba (PUB) is an independent, quasi-judicial administrative tribunal that has broad oversight and supervisory powers over public utilities and designated monopolies, as set out in statute. The PUB considers both the impact to customers and financial requirements of the utility in approving rates.
 

The Public Utilities Board provides regulatory administration

  • Centra Gas Manitoba Inc. (natural gas distribution, utility rate setting)
  • Crown Corporations Governance and Accountability Act
  • Efficiency Manitoba Act
  • Gas Allocation Act
  • Gas Pipe Line Act (safety of natural gas and propane distribution)
  • Greater Winnipeg Gas Distribution Act (natural gas distribution franchise)
  • Manitoba Hydro Electricity (utility rate setting)
  • Manitoba Public Insurance (MPI - auto insurance rate setting)
  • Manitoba Water Services Board Act (appeals)
  • Municipal Act (water and sewer utility rate regulation - excluding Winnipeg)

ABOUT US

The Manitoba Public Utilities Board (the Board) is an independent quasi-judicial administrative tribunal operating under the authority of the Manitoba Legislature. While the current Public Utilities Board Act was passed in 1959 the Board has regulated services under other legislation since 1913.
